Harvard Language Exchange

Our Language Exchange Program provides members of the Harvard community (only)* the possibility of practicing informal conversation with a partner who speaks their target language. The purpose of the language exchange, or "tandem," is to allow partners equal time to practice their desired languages. After you sign up in the database, you may match with a partner who speaks your target language, and, in exchange, whose target language you speak. Be aware that the database may not have a robust representation of less commonly spoken languages, and you should request as many partners as possible to find a match.

Please read the terms of the Language Exchange carefully before signing up. The Language Center is a source for possible matches but is not responsible for maintaining contact between prospective partners. You must agree to the terms before registering.

*All Harvard community members, including spouses and partners of faculty, staff, students, and visiting scholars, as well as alumni and retired faculty and staff, are eligible to participate in the exchange. If you do not have an HUID but are a Harvard affiliate, you will need to create a Harvard guest account. Contact us if you need assistance.
